Ben Mathews plays the KSM Model 358 Guitar

Ben Mathews is a guitarist and educator originally from Thousand Oaks, California. He earned a Master of Jazz Studies degree with an emphasis in Guitar Performance from the acclaimed Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University. At Indiana he studied with Corey Christiansen and worked as Rhythm Section Coach for the world-renown IU Soul Revue. He was also a founding member of the IU Latin Jazz Ensemble. He's been invited to perform at the Percussive Arts Society and Jazz Education Network's International Conferences with latin jazz bands on Guitar and Cuban Tres.


In addition to teaching at BYU-Idaho, Utah State University, and College of Southern Idaho, Ben keeps busy on stage as a performer of various styles including Jazz, Afro-Cuban, Rock, Pop, Soul, and Bluegrass. He has been the Musical Director of Deep Love: A Ghostly Rock Opera since 2012, which was a featured selection at the 2015 New York Musical Theatre Festival. The New York Times called Deep Love "a polished show", and the Associated Press praised it as "one of the highlights of the New York Musical Theatre Festival".


Ben is earning his stripes in the studio as a songwriter, a session musician on guitars, mandolin, and bass, and most recently as a producer.
